Great way to get more fresh veggies and fruit for your family!

For anyone looking to get more veggies into their family's diet, I had to share something now that it is coming to Spartanburg. I've been a part of The Noisy Rabbit for a few months now here in Taylors, one of many branches of this kind of food co-op. Each week, I get a laundry basket full of produce. It is a huge basket and it has been really fun trying out new food (never had kale before!), recipes, etc. I am able to put a ton more veggies into recipes and we always have fresh fruit on hand. My 4-year-old loves helping me put everything away and if I tell him something we are eating is from the basket, he is actually more willing to try it! I've been much healthier and have been enjoying healthy salads with stuff in them I usually never put in before. Anyway, we've been really happy with it. It is $60 a month. Sounds like a lot, but broken down when you think to just $15 a week it is not bad at all. We have often calculated how much that basket would cost and it is uasually at least $10 more if you bought all that in the grocery store. You sign up to be a part of certain branches. Each week you go there to pick up your basket (usually someone's house). Most are in the Greenville area. One is opening in Spartanburg in the Sburg/Duncan area. And watching how much the organization is growing, I'm sure more will open around Sburg. Anyway, check it out and see what you think! And let them know I sent you if you join! http://www.thenoisyrabbit.com/See More

Me and My Kids

Hi! I'm Katie, formerly SpartanburgMoms.com Moderator. Even though I'm not in charge of the site anymore, I'm still around!

I was born and raised in Spartanburg, went off to college in Columbia, stayed there for a few years after, met my husband, moved to Birmingham, AL for a couple of years, then settled back in the Upstate in Greer just in time to start our family. I've been married almost 7 years and am surrounded by my darling guys - sweet husband, Mark, adorable and funny 3-year-old son Nathan, and his cuddly little brother Luke born Memorial Day weekend 2010. Oh, and of course I have my furbaby, cat Toby (yes, a boy too!).

I am loving life as a stay-at-home mom/freelance writer. I love reading, taking my sons to parks, visitng the mountains and beach, stealing date nights with my husband, and rooting for the Gamecocks!

Saying bye for now......

Posted on October 27, 2010 at 9:30pm 3 Comments

Every mom dreams of that perfect job, right? For some it is staying home with the kids full time while for others it might be working in an office job regular hours. Or it could fall somewhere in between those two. For every mother, that perfect job has a different description. For me, that description was a reality for the past two years. As moderator of SpartanburgMoms.com, I have been able to work from home part time doing something I love while staying home with my children. It has been a… Continue

Consignment Sale Season is Here!

Posted on August 6, 2010 at 3:30pm 1 Comment

Its consignment season again! You ready to tag? You ready to shop? Do you even know what consignment sales are? Well, I'm a huge fan and I thought I'd share some tricks and tips.

Around our area, there are plenty of consignment sales, each usually occurring a couple times a year – once for Spring/Summer clothes and once for Fall/Winter clothes. I have been to three all in the Greenville area – Switcharoos (…

A different birth still a birth, right?

Posted on May 28, 2010 at 11:08am 1 Comment

Whoever told me no two pregnancies are the same could not have been more right when it came to mine. I'll post another blog about how different these two boys of mine have been in the womb....and probably follow that up in a few months with how different they were/are as babies! But for now, here's an update from my last month of pregnancy with baby #2.

I went to the doctor for my 37 week appointment yesterday (although I am 38 weeks today) and learned I might have pre-eclampsia.… Continue

Toddler Talk - Watch your mouth, Mommy!

Posted on March 17, 2010 at 10:51pm 0 Comments

Remember the movie Meet the Fockers? Oh how I laughed and laughed over the baby’s first word scene. Poor Ben Stiller was still trying to make a good impression on his soon-to-be inlaws and he did not succeed when he allowed their grandson to hear him say the A word. Up until that point, the toddler was holding off his first word and he eagerly repeated his future uncle’s foul language, much to the dismay of Robert DeNiro. I still remember the roar of laughter in the movie theater…

Thank you! We had a great time! CJ was so glad to have his "Buddy" to play with. He didn't realize that Mark was Nathan's daddy until we were leaving. :) We look forward to hanging out more often. Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Katie! I have a great photographer you can use. Her name is Michelle Scruggs 431.8779. She didn't do the ones you saw though. A lady from my church did them. He was the first newborn she had ever photographed. If you are interested in her, I can ask her how much she would charge. She came to my house and took them when he was 6 days old. I wanted to do them early enough that he could go in his stocking! Glad you like them. Let me know!
