Spartanburg Moms

A gathering place for moms in Upstate South Carolina

Hey Ladies! It's been awhile since we met up and I miss it! Now that we're all over the business of having babies (at least for now) and being ill...shall we pick up another book? I don't have anything in mind as of yet, but I have Kate Morton's The Forgotten Garden sitting on a shelf waiting to be read, anyone interested or have any other suggestions?

I'm up for it! I just started feeling like I could read every night last month. Right around the time Luke started sleeping through the night. Coincidence? I think not! Oh how I have missed my book wind down time!

I have not heard of The Forgotten Garden, but if you have heard good things about it, I'm in!

That sound's good!! I would love to start up book club again. Especially since my little one is already 6 months. Gesh, time flies. For the month of Feb I would only be able to meet on Wed, Fri or the weekend but after that my schedule opens up :-).. Keep me posted on what you guys decide!! I'm excited.
Sounds like a plan...I know I have a meeting that meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month, so that is the only regular thing I have to work around. Let us know ladies...I have been missing all of you!

Here it is 3 weeks since my original post and I'm finally getting around to posting again. That in mind I'm looking at a date that gives us all plenty of time to read and schedule around, how about Wednesday March 23rd? Where would you all like to meet? I'm attaching a link to the amazon description of The Forgotten Garden, if it doesn't sound like something you're into, let's agree on something else. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&f...

So....before I start a different book....are we on for this date? book? time?

March 23rd sounds perfect. Where would you like to meet?

How 'bout the Starbucks in Barnes & Noble, 6:00pm.

So did you ladies end up meeting last night?  I never did see anything else about anyone coming, so I didn't go.  I guess we should make a "formal event" for next time and invite everyone.  Look forward to hearing back....Thanks.
I was planning on attending, even though like you Karen I wasn't sure if there would be any turn out since no one responded. Unfortunately I was all set to go on Thursday so it was to late anyway, yes even after I was the one to set the date!! I want to keep the book club alive, we definitely have to make it a formal event next time. Did anyone else read the book? I really enjoyed it and am currently reading Kate Morton's latest, which is similar. Look forward to the next meeting. Really.

I want to keep the book club going! Sorry, this past couple of months has been crazy. I completely forgot about book club! But, hoping things are getting easier. So, let's pick a time, place, and book for next time! I still have not read The Forgotten Garden. I'm all for trying that one if thats OK with everyone else. The west side of town is best for me since I live in Greer, but I don't mind traveling. Any day of the week is fine and 6:15 or later is probably best. We should make it a moms night out to enjoy a dinner without little ones too!

Looking forward to our next one!

Hi I'm new to this group and see that everyone has had a bit of a problem meeting and deciding on books. I'm not really sure what kind of books everyone prefers but I'm an avid reader and always check out the latest novels of all kinds at the library. So I can make suggestions if I you could fill me in on what types of books you like to read and would love to help everybody get back on track. I've never been a part of a book club but would love the opportunity to learn and help out. So fill me in your likes and dislikes in reading material and maybe I can lend a hand.
I am new to the book club. I have just recently been able to start really reading again. I enjoy reading a wide variety of books including; classics, sci fi, thrillers, drama, and history. I live in Cowpens, so anywhere in Spartanburg is fine to meet. Also, most days would probably be workable for me. I look forward to meeting all of you.
