Spartanburg Moms

A gathering place for moms in Upstate South Carolina

SpartanburgMoms.com is excited to team up with Meaningful Moments Photography to offer three of you a FREE photo session!

It's easy to enter: tell us why YOUR family deserves a free session! Does your last family portrait include only your first-born instead of all five of your kids? Did the 9 month old little darling have a breakdown and look like she's mad at the world? Tell us about your family and why you deserve a session - it's that simple! We'd love to see your photos, too.

Our panel of judges will select a grand prize winner that will receive a free Family Photo Shoot Package that includes a one-hour session (on location), 200 photos (raw and edited) plus a CD with copyright release.

Two runners-up will each receive a free Kiddos Photo Shoot Package, including a 30 minute session on location (good for babies and children only), 75 photos (raw and edited) plus a CD with copyright release.

When I saw this contest posted, I was so excited.  My family is in desperate need of family pictures! I am a mother and a step-mother.  I have been with my two step-sons since they were 3 and 6, and they are now 11 and 13. I have always been able to get our pictures done at Sears or JC Penny, when there was a coupon and it ended up only costing $7.00, or some other outrageously cheap price. So we have family pictures up in our house, but now they are missing something really important…..the newest addition to our family! My son is 11 months old, and we do not have ANY pictures of the five of us. Not even a snapshot taken by a friend or family member! Nothing!! My oldest son asked me just the other day, “when are we going to get a new family picture so Harry can be in it?” And I told him that I was working on it, but honestly with the increased costs in our household since the birth of my son, it’s just not going to happen anytime soon.  My whole family would be elated to win this prize and it would mean a lot more to us than just a picture. To us, this is a way to show the world that we are a family. We are not just a house with a Dad, Step-mom, Step-sons, and Half-Brothers, but instead we are one entity; bound to each other forever.

First off I am a 24 year old mother of 3 beautiful children Maygen-6 Michael-4 and Maddox-3 weeks; I am married to a wonderful husband who has stuck by me and has raised my oldest 2 children as his own since Michael was only a few months old, when their biological father decided to "just not want this right now". Just a few months ago our second child, Michael, was diagnosed with PDD-NOS and ADHD. The past 2 years have been rough for us with everything going on with therapy, doctors, and school; my husband lost his wonderful job that allowed him to be home threw out the day to help me, all the while i work night shift; Now with his new job he goes to work right when i get home from work and doesn't get home till after we are in bed. Sometimes i feel like I am trading my husband for a paycheck. On top of all this we do not have any family here in South Carolina whom i can rely on to help out. Well I just had our baby, Maddox a few weeks ago and Michael's doctors warned me to be extra careful with Michael around the baby because he more then likely will resent him and might cause extreme harm to him, if i am not careful; but let say this baby has been a blessing in disguise to Michael; He is more calm, attentive and loving with this baby and then i have ever seen with any therapy or medicine. I think that we deserve this family photo session to capture memories of how our family has been able to stick and support each other threw all these things that we have going on in our lives.

I don't know that my family and I "deserve" a photo shoot but it would be a huge treat! And, something we have never done before -because of our budget.  In fact, come to think of it, I am the only girl my at work who doesn't have professional baby and family photos in my office. Just a birth announcement taped to my file cabinet.

My husband (who is also my best friend--cheesy I know) and I have been together 10 years and had our first child last March. We both work full time and like every parent, we keep busy. We do take photos of our daughter every single Thursday (Baby AJ was born on a Thursday). But, we have never been to a studio or had a photo made of me, her, and her dad together. Hmm, now I am starting to feel guilty!

Having professional photos would be a great experience for us as a family. If we could manage to include our doggies (our first children after all!) it would be awesome!! Baby AJ turns one in March. With weekly photos at home, she is pretty used to the camera, so I think she would love to have a professional take her pictures.

Personally, everyone deserves a family photo session. We are all having difficult times making ends meet. But hears my story.  I am a stay at home mom.  According to what you see, I have 2 children, but actually have 4, two of my babies never saw this world.  I am still paying the doctors for my miscarriages, even though the doctors really didn't do anything, but send me home and let it pass. My husband works real hard for us, and he even took a job that envolves traveling because it was more money.  He even had to leave 2 weeks after our daughter was born and he was gone for 2 months. Yes, I was home alone with a newborn and a 2.5 year old. Was not fun, but we made it through it.  Money is real tight for us, that when I do take me children to a photo shoot, I only buy the one pose that is either 5-10 bucks.  I can't buy any of the other poses, because I just don't have the money to do it.  My son hasn't had a photo shoot since last year, and he really needs to get his picture taken again.  It will just be wonderful, if we were able to get our family photos taken.  Other than the snapshots that family has taken of us, we don't have any nice family photographs.  Thank you for your consideration! I really appreciate it!

I would love to have a family photo taken. We have a 21 year old son that has Brain Cancer & has been fighting this disease for the last 3 1/2 years. We also have our adopted nieces & nephew that are 14,12 & 4 1/2 years old. Our budget just does not cover extras like having professional pictures taken. I could not tell you the last time we had a family picture. My youngest niece will be 5 in June & we have had her picture taken once professional & she was over a year old. It would be a blessing to receive a Photo Session with Kaylee. Thanks in advance for the time & consideration. Dena Neely

Lisa Marie that is my sister`s name & she has a daughter born on March 15 that will be 17 & that is my husband`s birthday & our 21 year old daughter`s anniversary. I just thought I would share that. I enjoyed your entry.... Good Luck.... Dena Neely

I am a mother of three soon to be four children.  My children are 6, 3, 1, and the baby in due in July.  We have not had professional pictures taken since my second son was born.  I have no professional pictures of our daughter.  Our only family portrait was when my first son was born.  My husband works all day and by time he gets home the kids are already getting ready for bed.  I would be nice for him to have a great family picture for his desk at work.  As many have said before times are tough.  I am currently unemployed and trying to make my way through grad school so my children can have a better future.  I will not tell you our sad economic story but just want to say that everyone deserves to have great pictures taken of their children and family. Being almost 32 I just never thought times would ever get this hard, but I guess no one ever does.

Good Luck Tonya...

Times are tough & things are tight it is hard on one income especially with children. I am praying that things will improve in the near future....

I would love the opportunity to have a family photo session.   I have 2 children ages 7 and 4 with another on the way (very, very soon!!)   When my daughter was an infant, we had so much happen shortly after her birth.   We lost 2 family members, then my daughter got sick and was in NICU for a week.    I missed so many of her precious milestones, because we just couldn't afford to get pictures at the time.   The last professional photos we had taken were at 18 months for my daughter and 3 1/2 for my son.

Sadly, the economy has had its effects on our family too.   As much as I would love to have pictures done, I just cant justify the expense.  I treasure every picture that I take of my children, but I would really love to have some professional photos.   With a new baby on the way, I want to get pictures of all of them together.  I dont want to feel like I am missing out on any moment.

ive been married 7 years now and have 2 sons ages 7 and 9. i dont know why but we just havent ever had a family picture made. we have talked about it, but just never got around to doing it. im 42 and havent had any pictures of myself made since high school. our family would definately have no reson to not get any pictures made if we were to win so we are hoping we get picked. thanks

Bumping this back up...there's still time to enter!

I am pregnant with our 4th son, due in May. Since moving to Sc 2 years ago we haven't had a single family photo taken. My husband works as much as possible so that I can stay at home with our children. My middle son Brennon has severe asthma and allergies which show through his skin. Because of this, we have avoided taking professional pictures of him hoping one day his skin would clear up and we could allow him to have memories without a constant rash all over his body. We were blessed enough to find an asthma and allergist in Spartanburg who has changed Brennon's life more than we could have ever imagine. For the first time in his entire life he is 95% clear. It would amazing to capture this on film and give our entire family those memories that we so desperately want. With our 4th son being born soon, I couldn't imagine a more special time to have those taken.

I've included a before and "after" picture of Brennon's face. The first picture was taken 3 months after moving to Sc (and this is what we used to consider a good day) and the 2nd was taken about 2 months ago. This picture is what we now consider a bad day.

As you can tell, his skin appears red in color. This is due to the medicine he was on to avoid staph infections. If he was out in the sun for more than 5-10 minutes his entire body would turn bright red. Riding in the car would give this same effect, as clearly seen in this photo.

And after.... My beautiful pale sweet baby boy! :) He is no longer on the same medicine that he was on because his doctor was able to change his medicine around to something a lot more safe.

Of course, as you can tell, Brennon is a lot happier since finding relief in his skin issues.

I would give my left leg to be able to capture this part of his life through professional photos. . :)
