A gathering place for moms in Upstate South Carolina
There has been alot said and used in different contexts, the word tolerance. Case in point, Boy Scouts, Chick-fil a. Tolerance means being to be accepted. Not just the "chosen" causes. For instance, tolerance of other religions besides the Baptist. Catholics, Episcopalians, and yes,Muslims. So, with that in mind, the word tolerance gets confused with choices. If Chick-fil a doesn't tolerate Gay marriages, then cities can choose to tolerate Chick-fil a's choice of condemning the other half of the population or choose to support it...I choose inclusiveness. I thought that the Christian way of toleration is accepting people for who thy are, not condemning them for who they aren't. ?

You have to stand up for what is right and for what is wrong. In today's society if you stand for what you believe in, perfect example, traditional marriage, you will get torn to shreds by the media and gay activist. For example, look at Target. A few years ago, they gave money in support of a candidate that was for traditional marriage. What happened? The gay activist blasted Target for this. Just this past June, Target sold gay pride t-shirts and gave all the proceeds to their cause. Because of this, I personally stopped shopping at Target and any other company that supports immoral actions. Christ forgave and forgives sins, but did he say, go on and sin no more, or go do whatever pleases you? The Christian way is to call sin a sin, and to stand up against it.
Permalink Reply by Lynn Randall on July 27, 2012 at 5:26pm What is sin? What is right and wrong? I have a family member that I wouldn't call a sinful person. He goes to church, volunteers and he's gay. I don't judge him and he explains that he likes women but is romantically attracted to men. Is that a sin? Just like women who attracted to men. I don't judge those women who are attracted to married men. Sodom and Gommorha was destroyed because of rape and controlling other people. When historians found a scripture, not in the Bible, that states that Jesus resurrected a young man from the dead and that the young man requested to spend a night with Jesus, and that Jesus consented, was that sinful? OHHH thats right, we're not suppse to believe everything we read or listen to, including the Bible? When the marriage vows included obey for the women and not the men, did that raise an uprising....yes, so now, the marriage vows do not include that unless the couple wants it....it's all on perspective on history and cultural norms. I would like to know what is sinful and what isn't...I know Do Unto Others as you would have others do unto you, is a good rule to live by, but you know, Christians are the worst culprits to point fingers at everyone else. How about not being a sheep and listen to your own conscience and see how much money your church wants you to give?? Give me your filthy rotten money, I can spend it as good as anyone else. Mary Magdeline was not a whore but a rich woman who supported Jesus's teachings, she didn't have to tithe 10% of her earnings, she gave what SHE wanted....Hypocrisy is everywhere, Remember the saying about glass houses....to be a true Christian is to live and let live and help those along the path, as Jesus did. HE didn't judge anyone or condemned anyone....He was an agnostic. Ilove him for that.

Yes everything in the Bible is true. And Christ meant what he said and said what he meant. If he had people spend the night with him, I am 100% sure that they were just sleeping not trying to put a plug in a plug. And where in the Bible does it say that homosexuality is right? In the Old testament it states that if a man dresses like a woman it is an abomination, and if a woman dresses like a man that too is an abomination. And it states in the New testament that if you perform homosexual acts you will not enter into the Kindgom of Heaven. That's not me saying that, it's Christ himself. Yes Mary Magdalene was a whore, but stopped her sinful ways and followed Christ and become one of the great saints of Jesus's time. Also, there is nothing wrong with being gay, AS LONG, as you live a chaste life. Same thing goes for men and women, you should not be sleeping around if you are single, you should live a chaste life. Christ was not a push over, he pissed off a lot of people. So to say he was agnostic is wrong. Also why did John the Baptist lose his head? And why did St Thomas More lose his head? They both were beheaded for standing up for the sanctity of marriage.
Permalink Reply by Lynn Randall on July 28, 2012 at 8:14am So, that means your right and everyone else is wrong? It has been proven that Gay people are born this way...hormone levels are different. If people are in love, why not have the sanctity of marriage? Whether your Gay or Straight? An Agnostic is someone who believes that God lives inside of you. Men and women were not born in sin...that is a total contradiction then what Christians believe. I believe that were all born innocent and the sinfulness is up to the those that want to judge other people based on their worn out standards of being critical. The Golden Rule still applies, the should'ves and could'ves are dead words...they're the words of people that are too busy judging others without minding their own business....who is sleeping with who is up to the individuals, not for fodder for cannons.

read Romans...and that's all I'm going to say. What's in the Bible is true. And homosexuality is wrong. And no, you are not born that way. We were born with free will, what you do with it is your choice, but I will not say it is okay for a man to lay with another man like he would a woman, and vice versa.
Permalink Reply by Lynn Randall on July 29, 2012 at 7:47am The point is tolerance. If you believe that Jesus was a righteous man, he tolerated people from all walks of life. Choice is to follow his leads or not. Marriage is a choice, why do we have the right to judge? Just like you said, the Bible says that women need to wear dresses....why do women wear slacks? Choice...are they sinful? Also, some churches say that women can't cut their hair, that a woman's crowning glory is their hair....if a woman cuts her hair....is she a sinner? I knew a priest once, when I asked him why Catholics had to eat fish on Friday, he laughed and said that when Paul came across a fisherman with all of this fish in his nets, Paul asked him why doesn't he take them to market...The fisherman replied because there was no market for the fish....At the point, Paul told him where he and his family was good Catholic followers, then he would deem that all Catholics eat fish...on Fridays....the fisherman became a rich man....how many other religions have done the same thing? The Bible was written by men....They chose what scriptures, parables, stories that would be put into the Bible...and the Bible, as we know it today, was put together AFTER the crucifixion of Jesus....Also, why is the King James version disliked in so many churches? Afterall, it is a BIBLE. All that I'm saying is don't be a sheep and blindly follow what is written. Do your own research....could be something as simple as a man was jealous of another man...One never knows, how all the scriptures were written and what was behind the intentions of the Authors. And why weren't all of the stories put into the Bible? If Mary was such a whore, why are there churches in her honor? You do your own research....Gay people don't have a choice in being gay, they would like the choice to being able to marry....tolerance is the key for all of those that WE deem as different as us...TOLERANCE to diversity is the key to survival and thriving. How different are you from your ancestors? Do you wear dresses all the time? Do you cut your hair? Even some religions state that Jewelry is an abomination....different strokes for different folks. What if your children are Gay? Would you be able to accept them for who they are? Your choice and your level of tolerance...

i said my peace. read romans
Permalink Reply by Lynn Randall on July 29, 2012 at 4:19pm I guess you don't know what you would do if your children were gay. It's not free will that these folks choose to be raped, murdered, tortured and exterminated. It is what it is, they're attracted to the same sex. And if you say is true, then marriage would be sanctified and therefore, sex would not be sinful. Too bad there are so many sheep and not enough people that can think and reason out what is real and what is myth and what is surely the faithful. Not all people are hypocrites, which is what I was trying to point out. What if you lived in a world that breeders were sinful? Excuse me, heterosexual people. and the Bible says that it is sinful to breed...? Ah but I digress. If the Bible is the only thing that you have, then give me your filthy dirty money, I can make more humanitarian uses for it then any organized church....tolerance is the key to live and not the faithful killing everyone that don't believe the same way that they do.

my children will know right from wrong. Read Romans. Again, I said my peace. Homosexuality is WRONG. God gave us free will, you choice what you want to do with it. I follow the laws of God, if that upsets you than so be it. I know what is moral and immoral. Again, read Romans. And if you think church is all about collecting money, once again you are wrong.
Permalink Reply by Lynn Randall on July 30, 2012 at 7:15am I stand corrected...I thought I was dealing with someone who has had experience in talking and knowing how other people live. I know that churches are more then collecting money....I searched along time ago for a church that I could believe in fellowship, worship and faith that I could believe in in associating with other members. What I had learned, I'm hetero, white, single parent, at the time, is that when folks to fit in certain pidgeon holes, then they get ostracized, condemned and worse preached to more then other so-called Christians in the church. I learned that Faith has to come from within and judging others can hurt too much when the judging is turned on you....Hope you are not a hypocrite and treat everyone the way that you want to be treated....Faith is more then holding all of the truth in the Bible, it's more the duties to be performed and lessons to teach other people. It's how one conducts themselves and to be true to God and honest with self.

Lynn, Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this issue. A lot has been said on both sides, and I honestly think it has gotten out of hand. Here is a link of an essay by Perry Noble. He is the pastor at Newspring Church. I'm not a member of this church, but I saw this link on someone's facebook page, and absolutely loved everything he had to say about it. Also, I don't think the owner of Chick-fil-A condemned anyone. He simply said what he personally believes in a non-confrontational, non-condemning way. There has been so much talk of tolerance this week, but I think that it has to work both ways. Here is the link: http://www.perrynoble.com/2012/08/01/ben-jerrys-chic-fil-a-politica...
