Suggestions for place to stay in Isle of Palms/Charleston?

So we had our family vacay planned all out and then I got laid off. We have been holding out hope that we were still going to be able to stay in our normal place in St Augustine but its just going to be to expensive. We have now started looking hardcore at possibly going to Isle of Palms (which we also love) or would go anywhere in surrounding area that has a pool that has enough room for the 5 of us. We just can't stay in one hotel room for more than one night. We tried that one year and it was AWFUL!

Anyway, we're looking for a house or condo with a pool and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions? We may want to just go for 3 or 4 nights instead of a week and that's one problem I seem to be running into is that so many rentals are for a week only. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it! Thanks girls!

We were at Isle of Palms last week, and if you've never been, you should definitely go! It's a great, family-friendly place! We always rent a house because we have too many people to stay in a hotel room too. There are lots of rentals that do have a pool, but I'm sure it's difficult to find one that will rent for less than a week. It's probably easier in the off season. They only have 1 hotel @ Isle of Palms, but you may want to contact Wild Dunes Resort. It's on Isle of Palms. We've stayed in houses there several times. But they do have lots of condos, and they rent for less than a week. Wild Dunes is absolutely fabulous! They have several pools, a restaurant, gift shops...it's just wonderful! Good luck in your search!

I'm writing this reply on our last night at Wild Dunes. We had a great time. We have always gone to the MB area (Garden City or Cherry Grove) for our big family beach. We would get a few condos right on the beach for our big extended family. This year we got a 6 bedroom house in wild dunes. It was not on the beach, but it had a pool and came with a golf cart we took to the beach. Was a nice change. I hope we come back next year.

My aunt and uncle were not going to come, but decided to last minute. Could not find a place on IOP for less than $300 a night. I don't know how hard he looked or where. Or if it was just all booked or just that expensive all the time. I'm sure during the week it is less. Anyway, I'm not much help. We loved it here, but it is more expensive than the MB area. If you want an inexpensive beach vacation, I'd look at IOP, but also compare with Myrtle.
