Spartanburg Moms

A gathering place for moms in Upstate South Carolina

I was wondering if anyone had any information on preschools in my area - I live in Lyman. my daughter is two now, but next year I would be interested in getting her into a program for three-year-olds, maybe a couple of days a week. Our finances won't allow anything too expensive, so we'd like to find somewhere that isn't too pricey. Any information would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi Samantha! We're in the same boat with the preschools. I would like to send my daughter to a preschool as well, but we've decided to wait one more year. She has food allergies, and we're just so nervous to put her somewhere that we, or someone in our family, can't monitor what she eats. Anyway, I'm not too familiar with preschools in Lyman, since we are in Spartanburg. But I would try the local churches first. A lot of churches offer mommy morning out programs that aren't as expensive. They are usually half-day programs. And I'm sure that they aren't as expensive as other preschools. Good luck in your search!

That does sound scary. I would be hesitant, too! That's a great idea - I will check around with the churches nearby. I know they have a mommy's morning out program at the YMCA in Duncan. I'm not sure if they "learn" anything in there, or if it's just a childcare setting. I would love it if she could get in somewhere for a couple of hours, maybe just a couple of days a week. Thanks!

I don't know how far you are willing to drive, but St. Matthew's Episcopal Church (Spartanburg, right across from B&N) has a wonderful preschool program, and they are VERY protective of children with food allergies.

My daughter has went to Anderson Mills Baptist Church for preschool since she was 2. We love it there. We started out with 2 days, then when she turned 3 we sent her 3 days and this year she is going 5 days for 4k. It's 9-12 everyday ( depending on how many day you want to send her) and its priced very reasonable :). Hope that helps some. Good luck with your search!!

I've heard that Anderson Mill is nice - it is a little far for me, though. I'd like to stay in the Lyman/Duncan/Greer area if possible. I would love it if she could go two or three days a week. Thanks for the recommendations!
