Any good classes out there?  Took the spartanburg regional hospital class for pre-birth but was mainly information about the equipment/tour/etc...   Wanted to get one that shows how to prepare: ex. breathing exercises.

Also is there a good group for breast-feeding classes?

Hi, according to the Spartanburg Regional site they offer birthing and breastfeeding classes: http://www.spartanburgregional.com/womenshealth/Pages/default.aspx

I delivered at Mary Black, and their lactation consultants were extremely helpful. I have heard good things about Regional as well.

Congratulations and best of luck to you!

I took the breast feeding class at Sptbg Regional and it was great.  They lady even brought in baby dolls so that you could practice the different poistions of nursing.  I didn't get to nurse my first born for too long, but it really came in handy win my daughter was born.

The breastfeeding class at Regional was excellent - be sure you take the one that's only about BF. After you have your baby, they have a wonderful support group that meets at Regional - here's the information:

Thursdays
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Montgomery Tower Fourth Floor Classroom
Baby needs to be two weeks old to attend.
A luncheon for mothers and their new baby to meet other new moms, ask questions, share concerns, laugh and talk about life with  your new baby and more… Please call 560-2297 with questions.

You should also check out the La Leche League meetings - I think some expectant moms attend, and the members are full of great information! They meet once a month on a Thursday - here's that link for information:

I went through the Hypnobirthing classes at Regional with both of my pregnancies and highly recommend them.

Kim posted some great info. I delivered at Sptg Regional and the lactation consultants were great.

You are welcome to go to the luncheon when you are pregnant. I went when I was 7 months and it was such a good experience. It made me more comfortable when I came back after the baby was born.

I had a very difficult and painful time breastfeeding. If it weren't for Linda and Debbie I would not have been able to exclusively BF for the first 6 months of my child's life. I am so grateful for their help.

Also, when you decide to buy nursing bras, I recommend Breakout Bras in Greenville. Ariel was the most helpful sales person there.

Do you know if they offer birthing balls at Spartanburg Regional or should I bring my own?

I attended all of the classes they offered at Mary Black... they were are quite helpful and the nurses were great. They had a curriculum as a base, but deviated from it to best fit the class so we all felt prepared.

I brought my own ball although Sptg Regional said they do provide them. Glad I did, because they were out. I found the best price was at Wal-Mart. It was around $6.  Didn't really use the ball but was glad to know I had it just in case.
