A gathering place for moms in Upstate South Carolina
For anyone looking to get more veggies into their family's diet, I had to share something now that it is coming to Spartanburg. I've been a part of The Noisy Rabbit for a few months now here in Taylors, one of many branches of this kind of food co-op. Each week, I get a laundry basket full of produce. It is a huge basket and it has been really fun trying out new food (never had kale before!), recipes, etc. I am able to put a ton more veggies into recipes and we always have fresh fruit on hand. My 4-year-old loves helping me put everything away and if I tell him something we are eating is from the basket, he is actually more willing to try it! I've been much healthier and have been enjoying healthy salads with stuff in them I usually never put in before. Anyway, we've been really happy with it.
It is $60 a month. Sounds like a lot, but broken down when you think to just $15 a week it is not bad at all. We have often calculated how much that basket would cost and it is uasually at least $10 more if you bought all that in the grocery store. You sign up to be a part of certain branches. Each week you go there to pick up your basket (usually someone's house). Most are in the Greenville area. One is opening in Spartanburg in the Sburg/Duncan area. And watching how much the organization is growing, I'm sure more will open around Sburg.
Anyway, check it out and see what you think! And let them know I sent you if you join!
